Frequently asked questions

Is FLAC really lossless?

Yes. When decoded, the audio is bit-for-bit identical to the original – unlike MP3 or AAC.

Does it make sense to convert MP3 to FLAC?

No. The MP3 quality won’t improve and the file will be bigger. FLAC is good for WAV, CDs and your own recordings.

Will my phone play FLAC?

Android will; on iPhone, it plays in the Files app and in third-party music players.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Audio and recordings are processed right in your browser and never leave your device. Only the tool itself is downloaded from our server, the same for everyone. More in the privacy policy.
