Frequently asked questions
What is LUFS?
A unit of perceived loudness under the EBU R128 standard. Unlike the peak level, it takes into account how loud the audio sounds to the ear.
Why −16 LUFS?
It’s recommended by Apple Podcasts and most podcast platforms. Spotify and YouTube use −14 LUFS – the difference is small.
How is it different from making it louder?
Boosting to the peak only deals with the loudest point. Normalization evens out how loud the files sound – better for a set of recordings.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Audio and recordings are processed right in your browser and never leave your device. Only the tool itself is downloaded from our server, the same for everyone. More in the privacy policy.
